Visiting the dental practice - a family affair

Encouraging appointments for the whole family.

From a young age it is important to be educated in how to care for your teeth, mouth and gums. The more we know, the more we can adopt measures to prevent problems further down the line.

For this reason, patients who have children are encouraged to bring their child along to our surgery from around 6 months of age. This helps to begin the learning process and get them used to regular dental visits. Now getting a toddler to sit still and have their teeth checked over is no easy task and therefore it is encouraged that their parents / guardians and siblings also have their regular check ups at the same so as to provide encouragement and guidance whilst of course receiving the same excellent care.

No matter your age, your oral hygiene care routine is of great importance. Kings Dental Subiaco is here to help you and your entire family achieve the best oral health possible.

The emotional impact of regular visits as a child.

The positive impact of these regular dental check-ups throughout childhood not only are seen within the physical appearance of the teeth, mouth and gums, but also can be seen in how comfortable the patient is for their visits. By creating positive experiences at the dental practice from a young age, you are setting your child up to continue experiencing their visits in this way rather than suffering from fears and anxieties surrounding the dentist in their later years.

Providing a range of preventive care options.

The build-up of plaque on the teeth can cause many dental problems when left untreated including tooth decay. Whilst a little plaque in the beginning may not cause much harm, when left untreated for many years problems such as gum disease and tooth loss can occur and therefore putting in processes to prevent this are of the utmost importance.

One of these measures is the fluoride application which is pasted onto the surface of the tooth providing a protective layer. The fluoride can help restore the surface of the tooth should any damage occur and therefore helps prevent plaque from building up and causing irreparable damage. Another potential measure that can be taken to protect the tooth is that of the tooth coloured fissure sealants. The resin can be bonded to the natural tooth creating a smoother tooth which is less likely to suffer from plaque build up in the gaps.

Alongside teaching your children how to care for their teeth and why it is important to visit us at Kings Dental Subiaco, these regular visits can assist with discovering early signs of misalignment or other dental problems which can begin to present themselves from a young age. By spotting any developmental issues within the mouth early on, measures can be taken immediately by our team to ensure that the dental problems do not progress further and that more intense procedures can be avoided further down the line.

Working as a team with Kings Dental Subiaco.

Whilst visits to the dental practice on a regular basis are of great importance, it is also important that a large amount of teamwork is required by the patient and our dental team. For those with young children this also means a level of responsibility on your part so as to ensure both your child’s dental care and your own remains a top priority. By working together both in and out of the dental practice, your daily oral hygiene process should help maintain a healthy and confident smile.

All treatment carries risks. Individual consultation is required with one of our practitioners to ensure that the treatment is right for you.
