White Fillings

Porcelain Fillings

If you require a filling in your tooth, a cosmetic option would be to choose a white filling material that matches the shade of your surrounding natural teeth. You can also have any existing metallic fillings replaced with white fillings. This will allow you to smile without a metallic glint, giving your teeth a more natural appearance.

Here is how they work

  1. The tooth is prepared with removal of any metal fillings you are having replaced and any decay.

  2. The new filling is made from a very hard tooth-coloured substance and will withstand the forces in your mouth when you chew and bite.

  3. The filling may be completed in one visit and is bonded securely to the tooth.

Benefits of porcelain fillings

  • Porcelain fillings provide a long-lasting solution.

  • Porcelain fillings are a natural-looking way to restore teeth.

  • Porcelain fillings function like a normal tooth so you can eat, chew and bite as usual.

Composite Fillings

When a tooth begins to die, it loses the natural white brilliance that it once had. Similarly, a mouth full of metal fillings will appear much darker at first glance, even when those fillings are placed at the back of the mouth. This is because of the natural opacity in our tooth enamel. So even at the back of the mouth, dark fillings can cast a darker hue over the entire look of the mouth. At Kings Dental, we use white filling materials which allow us to restore the brilliance of your smile, rather than take away from it.

The material, known as composite, is mixed from a glass or quartz filler, and the colour is matched to your smile so as to look as natural as possible.

White composite restorations can be done in a single visit and can be applied to a single tooth, or to the entire mouth if necessary. Contact us to learn more about these aesthetically pleasing alternatives to metal fillings.
